The IFX Group TBBS File Collection
The Bread Board System (TBBS) was one of the top commercial bulletin board system (BBS) software packages available in the world from 1981 through the official end of life in 1999 with the eSoft release of the last Y2K patches. A large and loyal following was built in the two decades it was available. The following tools are made available for those system operators (SYSOP) that still use this robust software.
The TBBS.org web site has quite a few other resources for the TBBS operator in addition to the tools listed here.

This is a utility to allow users
to save tagged file queue from one call to the next. It shows
several advanced features including file transfer calls from TBBS
and file renaming. It also shows how to pass information from TBBS

This is the smallest program I
have ever written. It will reboot a DOS machine from a command
prompt or batch file. On most Windows machines it will just exit
the command prompt window without much fanfare. It is only 5 bytes,
but since most web browsers don't know how to deal with the file in
binary form, it had to be zipped to a file size over 5 times larger.

This is a program to show how to create a
.DBF (database) file from inside a TDBS program. It is designed as
a procedure that you can include in other programs. The database
that it creates is a fixed or hard coded structure that means that
each time you run the program it will create the same database file
without user input. It would be a fairly minor change to add an
interactive part to allow the user to create a custom database file
using the structure in this program.

A DOS utility to read TBBS log files
(dayfile.lst) and simulate the local console screen. An excellent
tool for demonstrating activity on the TBBS local console without a
live system. This tool also generates reports useful to keep an
interested SYSOP informed.

This tool helps
locate duplicate files on your hard drive. This is a true binary
file comparison able to detect duplicate files even if they have
very different file names or are located in different
subdirectories under the same parent directory. The complete
PowerBasic/CC source code for this utility is included. The source
code is made available to help promote the awareness of the whole
line of compilers and other programming tools available from the
fine people at PowerBasic. Tell them you saw their name on the IFX
Group web site. Featured download for August 2004.

This program shows a display of the free
storage space on your TBBS system. It has a sysop mode that
will allow the sysop to add drives to the list on-line while other
users are accessing the display. In this program you will learn how
to find available drive space and build graphs (using IBM graphic
characters and ANSI codes if the user has that ability) from the
information available.

display the information to the user along with the location of the
BBS. If the user requests the number format then the real TBBS Type
11 is called. It also shows how to pass information from TBBS to a
TDBS program.

USERLOG.BBS file with the TDBS flat file routines. It also shows
how to pass information from TBBS to a TDBS program.

ASR Shareware Registration Tool
Download: Size: Updated: | reg_asr.zip 27,360 bytes July 09, 1994 |
In the early 1990's
there was a company named Advanced System Research (ASR) that
published many shareware programs for the TBBS platform. It appears
that the company has been out of business for over a decade now and
all of the authors that made products for ASR are also out of the
business, but their fine TBBS and TDBS shareware programs still
remain. This is a tool that the IFX Group wrote for authorized ASR
distributors to imprint the shareware files with the customer
information. It has the effect of unlocking extra features and
abilities in most of the programs. There are no instructions
included with this file other than the command line syntax help
included in the program itself. Make a backup of your shareware
file before using this tool. If you can locate the author of the
shareware program you are registering, please send them some money
to thank them for their efforts.

Download: Size: Updated: | sbschat.prg 18,206 bytes May 30, 1995 |
This is a replacement for
the TBBS Type 23 (sysop chat request) command. It shows a fake menu
of different sounds that the user can select from to use as a sysop
page request. The sound on the sysop side is always the same, but
the user does not need to know that. It shows how to change the
look of internal TBBS functions and how to pass information from
TBBS to a TDBS program.

account deleted as well as how to pass information from TBBS to a
TDBS program. This program requires passed information.
